I started as an apprentice in 1981. My passion to learn the skill took me to TAFE NSW Ultimo. After finishing my training at TAFE and with the added experience of working in LJ Minogue, I started practicing upholstery myself.
In 1990 I went to TAFE again to learn Motor Trimming and Marine Trimming, to be able to do boat and car upholstery. In 2017 with the vision of expansion of my family business, I started my factory at Botany and since then carrying out the legacy of my father and great uncle for almost 39 years now....
With years of experience in the industry you can rest assured that you are dealing with a trusted company.
“ I am very pleased with the workmanship and the service from Simes Upholstery last October when they reupholstered our set of 6 dining chairs. The chairs are about 20 years old with beautifully wooden frame but the sitting area foam and cushion have totally worn out. Douglas took great care in replacing the board, the cushion and the cover. Our chairs came back looking brand new and they were very comfortable. The pricing is reasonable and service is excellent, from enquiry to delivery. Highly recommended. ”
“ We had bought a second hand sofa and had it reupholstered. From enquiry to pricing to working on the sofa to delivery - they've made it very smooth. Not only the service is excellent but more is the finished job. My second hand sofa is looking wonderful and brand new. Thanks to Simes upholstery! ”
“ Douglas is a great listener and generous with his time. He helped with fabric choice, personally checked my measurements and delivered a great result. Highly recommended. ”
